For three years I closely interacted with the regular activities of Clonakilty Gaelic Athletic Association club in Co. Cork, recording footage and sound using principles of ethnographic filmmaking, encompassing and representing the scope of a GAA club as a uniquely Irish community organisation. I documented a huge range of activities, including sporting activities (training, games etc.) as well as social events, fundraising events, a funeral, ceremonies and religious services.

This work was carried out as part of a PhD in Film & Screen Media at UCC.

Between April 2nd and May 12th 2022, these videos were shown as a video installation at Uillinn, West Cork Arts Centre in Skibbereen, Co Cork, where the study continued with community meetings and a series of talks and events.
