In 2014 a metal crucifix on the top of Ireland’s highest mountain, Carrauntoohil was cut down by activists protesting the influence of the Catholic Church. A local councillor remarked in the media that the act shows that we are now living in a 'Godless society", and that it is part of a larger effort to, "make what is not normal, become normal".
Eight days later, a group of local volunteers reinstated the cross in a secret dawn-mission. 8 Days Godless is an account of the affair that explores the contested spaces of images and mountaintops.
